13 January 1945 Mission #227 Target: Kaiserslautern

As bad weather persisted locally, the target assigned for (19) aircrews on this date was once again the marshalling yards in this major city located between Ludwigshafen and Saarbrucken. At 0645 and 0730 hours, crews were briefed and at 0900, all commenced take-off. The Group bombers released (205) 100 and 500# bombs by GH methods through heavy cloud conditions but it was assessed that all had impacted close to the aiming point. Recovery weather at base was again poor, but all ships landed safely around 1615 hours.
