26 November 1943 Mission #11 Target: Bremen

The unit was again assigned this tough target in northwestern Germany, but this raid was to result in fewer losses to the Group than the previous one on 13 November. Twenty-five (25) Liberators took off for the mission which was led by the 578th Squadron with a total of (22) succeeding in bombing the primary using PFF tactics due to heavy target weather. Post target recon evaluated bombing results as good which was the unobserved estimate of the returning aircrews. A total of (478) bombs were released on target consisting of a mixed load of 100# and 500# GP weapons. Some 15-20 single engine enemy fighters were engaged, but no claims were made. The Group lost (1) B-24, cause unknown, and suffered the loss of (11) aircrew members all MIA. The mission aircraft returned to Wendling logging 7:30 hours.
