Tactical choke points at Lisieux were the target for this mission. General briefing for 23 crews was held between 0730-0800 hours with the 577th and 579th assigned lead. 1/Lt J.S. Lawrence and 2/Lt R.K. Crowell flew as Lead Bombardiers. At 1100 hours, 23 aircraft took off with all going over the target. The first squadron released 132 M-64 500-pound General Purpose bombs while the second squadron dropped 244 M-31 300-pound General Purpose bombs. Photo analysis showed that the bombs were concentrated on the MPI (Mean Point of Impact; i.e., the target).
As in the previous three missions, no enemy aircraft were encountered and flak was meager to nil. The aircrews were able to make some important military observations through occasional breaks in the undercast. All aircraft returned safely with the last landing at 1736 hours.
