392nd Bomb Group

TARGET: VICTORY

TARGET: VICTORY was conceived as "A report of, by and for Combat Flying personnel" of the fourteen Heavy Bombardment Groups ( B-24 Liberators) and five Fighter Groups ( P-47 Thunderbolts and P-51 Mustangs) of the 2nd Air Division.
The 32 issues, in four or six-page pamphlets, include Combat strike photographs, bombing accuracy reports, and commentaries on the overall results achieved during air operations. It was published every week at Headquarters, 2nd Air Division from 16 July 1944 to 16 May 1945. This material can serve as a treasure for any researcher of World War II 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Division accomplishments in the months from D-Day to V.E. Day.
In the very first issue, the Commanding General, Maj./Gen. James P. Hodges wrote, "This publication is dedicated to getting bombs on the target and is for Officers and men of Combat Crews who are directly responsible for accomplishing this objective. I have always felt that the more combat crews know about the results they accomplish, the better they will be able to perform the dangerous tasks that are set for them".
